POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT: REGIONAL CAREER SPECIALIST
Responsible to: Executive Director of the Western Piedmont Education Consortium
and the SC Department of Education, Office of Career and Technology Education (OCTE)
SUMMARY: The Regional Career Specialist serves as a liaison between the
SC Dept. of Education, Office of Career and Technology Education, and
the region’s school districts to ensure coordination, accountability and
delivery of career guidance and work-based learning initiatives as
outlined in Perkins IV and EEDA legislative requirements. In addition,
the Regional Career Specialist will support the “learning to work” state
standards of the South Carolina Comprehensive Guidance and Counseling
Program Model thus, enhancing the delivery of career development the
core curriculum standards. The individual will coordinate and present
professional development workshops in CATE and career guidance for
educators, guidance, personnel, students, and parents. The Regional
Career Specialist will also be responsible for teaching or coordinating
the delivery of the Global Career Development Facilitator (GCDF) course
for the regional school districts.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES: Other duties may be assigned.
• coordinate and deliver professional development workshops in career
development, contextual methodology, and work-based learning to
educators, school counselors, career specialists, and/or work-based
• assist schools in promoting the goals of quality career development of students in kindergarten through twelfth grade;
• support students in the exploration of career clusters by providing
work-site field studies and business/industry connections that support
their cluster of study;
• acts as a liaison with business, industry, post-secondary institutions, and school districts.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Minimum Bachelor’s degree with current in good standing GCDF
certification and the initiative to become certified as a GCDF
Instructor. Experience in delivering career and technology education
(CATE), work-based learning, and/or career guidance in schools is
WORK DAYS AND SALARY:
Contract is for 190 days. The salary range is $34,000 to $40,000 based
on experience and education degrees. Continuation of position will be
contingent on the availability of funding.

Laurens County School District 56 has positions available for part-time bus drivers. Applicants must either already have their CDL license and their State Department of Education bus driver certification or obtain them within 180 days of completion of training. Applicants must pass the DOT physical (medical) exam. Applicants must be able to perform physical tasks as it relates to pre-trip/post-trip bus inspections, assisting students during bus evacuations, and maintaining the cleanliness of the bus.
