Each year, students in grades three through eight take the Palmetto Assessment of State Standards. This statewide series of exams is given during the month of May and reflects the content that was taught during the year.
The Department of Education then compiles the test data throughout the state and determines how well individual schools and districts have performed relative to the rest of the state
